This saves me over $200/month in Accountant fees

I am thrilled to share with you this killer eSales Bookkeeping Spreadsheet, it is going to make tracking my eBay and/or Amazon sales and expenses a LOT easier. (See it in action in the video below)

If you haven't done it already, NOW is the time to get this system - or ANY excel-based tracking system - in place.

2 reasons I am promoting the eSales Tracking Spreadsheet:

  1. It makes tracking your sales and expenses 'hand-holding' easy with video tutorials;
  2. The way Amazon and Paypal each 'lump' your sales reports into one dreaded .csv file is a HUGE pain-in-the-rear. My Amazon.com transactions alone made up 400 Excel pages and I had to pay a freelancer and my CPA big $$$ to go 'massage' all 400 pages so my expenses and sales could be properly categorized.

If I had this spreadsheet (it's really a 'system') a year ago, I would have saved WAY over $200/month in accountant fees. The cost? A measly one-time charge of $29.97 with free lifetime updates. DISCOUNT: Get 20% off when you use coupon code JMFBA20 at checkout!

ALSO: Remember that Amazon will be reporting your income to the IRS (every calendar year) *IF* you have $20,000 or more in annual sales AND 200 or more transactions.

Paypal is doing the same.

Regardless, you can get audited by the IRS if you are misreporting income far less than $20,000. I'm not trying to scare you, but audits to happen occasionally, and you don't want to have messy financials if it happens.

So start tracking your sales and inventory NOW...your CPA/Accountant will THANK YOU come tax-reporting time.

(If your total sales are over $500/month, I highly recommend (in addition to using the eSales) hiring an Accountant/CPA because things get MIGHTY complicated if you are going to report your income and expenses. (They'll get WORSE if you get audited).

I am double-backing this system's 100% Money-Back Guarantee! If for any reason the founder (Vickie) doesn't honor a refund to you (I know she will), I will refund you from my own pocket, personally. Also: Get 20% off when you use coupon code JMFBA20 at checkout.

    Hi Jordan,
Can you provide some info on getting set up for sales tax. Also can you speak to the different entities of starting an online business, from just using ones SS# to setting up a LLC,and the pros and cons of each, taking into account the deductions one can take,i.e. inventory, membership sites, internet, milage etc.
    Many thanks.

    Hi, Jordan,
What’s the difference between this course and “Proven Accounting Training” from Jim Cockrum?

    • Jordan Malik February 28, 2018, 1:58 pm

Hi, the spreadsheet described in this post is just that – a spreadsheet (albeit an excellent one, made just for e-commerce merchants). It comes with basic instructions (video) on how to copy your Paypal/ebay/Amazon transaction data into the spreadsheet for easier consumption of said data. The Proven Accounting Training is a full solution/system on managing and strategizing your accounting for your business.

Hi Jordan you promote this spreadsheet with watch video below, but sadly there is nothing to watch, the links direct you straight forward to Pay now, but it would be nice if you would know what you buy.

Does it import the sales into the software from Amazon? I don’t have excel, and I have an iMac. Want to make sure it works before I get it.

Jordan, thanks for all your helpful articles. i wondered if you still use this program for tracking inventory/income/expenses. Is this all you need for your CPA or do you use another system, i.e., accounting package, in conjunction with this. Trying to decide between this and Karen Locker’s spreadsheet. Don’t plan to use Inventory Lab right now because I’m still trying to be profitable. Started in August of last year. Thanks.

Hi Joanne, yes I still use that, plus I have an assistant pull a couple custom reports directly from the Amazon seller interface, for my CPA. Every CPA is different, if you have one (a CPA) you should collaborate to find out exactly what reports he/she needs. It’s definitely not ‘one size fits all’

Thanks, Jordan. I appreciate your quick response!

Clicked on the link for this product and it took me to the order website. Clicked on order and it sent me to paypal. Clicked on redeem code for 20% discount and it would not work. I went ahead and purchased the product because I can see its value but you might want to check the code.

    • Jordan Malik October 9, 2014, 10:56 am

It works, you have to enter the code, update cart, and THEN select the ‘checkout with paypal’ button, the discounted rate will be shown as you check out on paypal.

You might add a comment, answering the post by David K, to make him and others that
Inventory Lab may, or may not, be that much better than Vickys Excel Speadsheet BUT
there is certainly a difference in price. Inventory Lab has a MONTHLY FEE

    • Jordan Malik May 16, 2014, 3:55 pm

Thanks, I have heard good things about InventoryLab but I have not used them myself yet.

  • David K November 6, 2013, 12:12 am

How is this product different/same from Inventory Labs?

    • Jordan Malik November 6, 2013, 12:43 pm

I haven’t used InventoryLabs myself, but I heard it’s a streamlined version of entering your product costs while you list your products. The version in this post is more of a ‘bookkeeping’/manual solution.

      • David K November 6, 2013, 6:28 pm

Thanks. Labs says it is for LIST, BOOKKEEP, ANALYZE. So it seems it tries to do all. Since I am just starting the $40/mo cost will keep me away from trying it for awhile.

Hey Jordan. Love the podcast and the blog. You’ve got to be one of the most genuine honest Amazon “gurus” on the internet right now. I appreciate all the advice. I’ll be trying this spreadsheet out shortly, especially for eBay in house inventory.

David I use IL and love it for listing, shipping, research, and tracking COGS for Amazon only. I’m still debating starting to use QB online for my overall business financial picture. Perhaps this spreadsheet will help me with that decision. But yeah I do recommend IL if you’re doing a lot of Amazon sourcing and listing.

When things start to get overwhelming consider hiring a qualified/trusted accountant/CPA/bookkeeper

  • John King August 19, 2013, 1:17 pm

There are also free alternatives that meet this need. I’ve been using Outright.com for this. I can’t complain since its free and a little more user friendly than a dreaded excel sheet. Outright has had issues recently getting timely downloads from your Amazon seller account, but they do a great job of linking all of your accounts to create one financial stat sheet.

    • Jordan Malik August 19, 2013, 1:44 pm

Hi John, I tried Outright a year or so ago and didn’t like it. It didn’t translate some international currencies correctly. The solution I mention in the blog post ( https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?cl=187580&c=ib&aff=106457) is ‘cut and paste’ easy, with the exception of something Outright can’t even do: plugging in your COGS (cost of goods sold). I think the solution above is simple enough.

    Thanks Jordan,

    Will do.

I had looked at this a few times trying to decide if it was a good purchase. I do know how to set up spread sheets, but of course it’s time and can turn into a headache if you forget something at year end.

Can you “customize” this spreadsheet if necessary ie add a new column etc without messing up the formulas that it uses to calculate, or can you fiddle with the formulas if necessary? I’m thinking of taxes collected and paid out. (I’m in Canada, so sales tax system might be a bit different than what has been setup in this program).

The free lifetime membership, does that mean I can create a 2013 spreadsheet for next year if I purchase it in 2012?

If yes, will it “import” all unsold SKUs into the new 2o13 spreadsheet or would they have to be manually copied and pasted?

Would love to hear your take on this. And thank you for reminding me of this product.

    • Jordan Malik April 7, 2013, 6:18 pm

You should direct those questions to the creator of the spreadsheet, Vickie. I sent you an email (check your spam folder) with her contact email address.

  • Clayton Hay August 2, 2012, 12:36 am

I’ve been using this Excel Workbook for a year now. All I did last February was print 1 spread sheet and send it to my CPA for taxes. I felt like he should have given me a discount, because this program made it so easy for him.

Beside making your taxes easier, you have a weekly/monthly L&P sheet to see how you are doing.
